Welcome, A Community Thanksgiving Meal
“Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me." Matthew 25:34
One of the reasons we moved into our space is to be able to more effectively serve our community and neighborhood. The Greater Chicago Food Depository (GCFD) says that 20% of the residents in Rogers Park are “Food Insecure” which is defined as “lacking reliable access to a sufficient quantity of affordable, nutritious food.” Annually, the GCFD serves more than 812,000 men, women, and children in Cook County – that is one out of every six people.
For those who are homeless / food insecure, Thanksgiving can be a particularly lonely and painful day. For that reason, we will be hosting a sit down Thanksgiving community meal for 30 people for those in our congregation who might not have somewhere else to go and those in our neighborhood who are homeless / food insecure.
There are 3 main ways to volunteer:
Donate food to the event – either a prepared dish or store bought items.
Volunteer to work at the event – 9:00 am – 1:30 pm on Thanksgiving, Thursday November 26.
Donate funds to support the event – We ask that all funds donated to special events be above and beyond your regular giving.

At achurch4me, we are always looking to the future, and ways that we can create awareness, fund programming and activities, as well community engagement. Whether you are a member of this church or not, making a financial contribution provides resources and tools to further our mission and provide a place where all are welcome and celebrated.
